FAQ
Certifying your artwork, explained
Why do I need to certify my artwork?
A certificate gives each work a clear record of authorship, artwork details, provenance, and verification. It makes the piece easier to share, sell, insure, and trust after it leaves your studio. It also gives collectors the option to see your new artworks.
What is a proofmark NFC tag?
A proofmark NFC tag is a sticker that can be attached to the physical artwork and linked to its certificate of authenticity.
When someone taps the tag with their phone, they can open the artwork's digital certificate and view its details.
Do I need to buy a proofmark NFC tag?
No. The proofmark NFC tag is optional.
You can create certificates, share certificate links, print certificates, and manage your portfolio without buying a tag. If you choose to use one, it helps you follow your artworks around the world and stay connected with collectors.
Will my certificate be stored forever?
Proofmark certificates are designed as long-lived public verification pages. Issued certificates may remain accessible for collector verification even if an account changes later. You can export your certificates at any point.
Can someone copy an image or certificate?
Like any image displayed on the web, an image you publish on a public profile or certificate could be saved or copied by a visitor. Account security cannot prevent someone from taking a screenshot of public content.
A copied image or certificate does not give that person your copyright or control of the official Proofmark record. Verification should happen from the proofmark.art URL opened by the NFC tag.
